The wonderful and whacky string of bananas is an excellent hanging succulent. A close relative of the string of pearls, it’s the easier cousin to take care of and keep alive. Its leaves are shaped like bananas or fishhooks and if grown in the ground they can trail along the ground. These fast growers look quirky in both wall and hanging planter.

The string of bananas or fishhook Senecio; either way, Senecio radicans is aptly named for its braid-like hanging tendrils of small, curved fleshy leaves. Grow it in a bright spot as a houseplant where it can cascade down a bookshelf or dangle from a hanging macrame planter.
